The New Beginning Fellowship Center's primary focus will be on individuals with alcoholism/drug addiction problems. The Center
will operate on a combination of the social model
and technical support theory. There is a clear and unified staff philosophy within the Center which regards the importance of the person-to-person support relationship of education
and recovery. Providing a non-judgmental environment of acceptance and concern, to include surroundings that are warm and attractive, where staff can share their strength in a
purposeful and coordinated relationship.
The Center programs will encourage and reinforce the individual's belief that recovery from dependence on the drugs and/or alcohol is obtainable. This begins with an understanding and awareness that conditions of alcohol and drug dependence can be interrupted. With new close relationships, coupled with an increased understanding about the nature of alcohol and drug dependence, the individual is confronted with powerful personal incentives and a desire to pursue a new lifestyle. The Center's sober-living facilities provide an alcohol/drug-free peer group oriented environment. The Center offers food, shelter, support, education and recovery services for persons seeking to withdraw from alcohol and/or drug. The desired outcome of our objectives, in providing alcohol/drug-free environments and services, is to help the individual seek a positive lifestyle and achieve sobriety. The impact upon the community results in the individual becoming a working, productive member of society. The impact of drug and alcohol abuse in the community id reflected by the sober lifestyles of the exemplary staff and sober peer flow at the center. The individual becomes independent, rather than dependent upon society and the community. Each resident, at the appropriate time, works with an individual staff person and is given the opportunity to discuss the different types of resources which are available. These areas cover alcohol and drug programs and resources, mental health resources and employment assistance. At this level, staff works more directly with alcohol/drug recovery programs and referral. There are four to seven in-house 12-step meetings each week at the Center. Residents are required to attend these meetings. In this way, they have the opportunity to become involved with others who are living sober. | ||
